GAR 106 - Week 14

This week is the week of the hand in and i realised that i dont have some main components, these being my hero asset and my stained glass window.

for the hero asset i decied to make it based off of the sword of the emporer of mankind, i also then used this asset to create the stained glass window.

To make the hero asset i came up with a lose design on paper, which i then roughly blocked out, from there i started with the handguard, i had to extrude and fix the mesh with the cutting tool to create the design. To create the flame effects i decided to use curves, which i wrapped around the blade, i gave them a twisted square profile to look like twisted metal bars which could also represent flames. To uv unwrap it i used automatic unwrapping and manually fixed any akward seams by hand, i then just used the automatic layout feature, as it provided good enough results for my purpose.

For the stained glass window i traced and image of my model, then i added the fire design around it, finally i put that into substance painter to give it a glass effect.

I also used actors to create decorated bookshelf and desk props that can be repeated more easily.

i also tried to make the stained glass cast coloured shadows into the scene, but it was too complicated for the time i had, i also tried to use the light function system to try and fake it but unfortunately i couldnt get it to work.
